Anti-inertia: 2012 Power Down

I have purposely tried to avoid this topic, given my previously long dissertation; but looking at the responses (thank you) I've received, I feel compelled to add some colorful commentary on a couple of items.  But first, let's review:

It is my personal belief that 2012 is an event that will rock the World as we know it!  But this is not in the cataclysmic/disaster manner expressed by the movie; or even marking the end of the World in any way.   Instead, it's about how the Mayans predicted (calculated?) the solar cycles with precision, and marking what coincides with December 21, 2012 on our Gregorian calendar to be the end of the 13th & 5,125-year-long cycle.  Their (the Mayan's) Mesoamerican Long Count calendar completes a "great cycle" of thirteen b'ak'tuns (periods of 144,000 days each).  Onwards, if need be, I will refer to this as b'ak'tun 13.

My personal beliefs about 2012 also include the possible (may be a hoax; but again, I'm not a scientist) Galactic Alignment (Wikipedia Link) in which, basically, the Sun, Earth and the Center of the Milky Way all are ... well ... in alignment.  It's almost as though we are planning for something major.

But more importantly than the above and other 2012 theories out there, the one that takes the cake for me is the outcome of the b'ak'tun 13 Mayan calculation above —Solar Flares; or more accurately, the impact of what follows —Coronal Mass Ejections (CME's).  Solar activity varies with an 11-year cycle (the solar cycle). At the peak of the cycle there are typically more sunspots on the Sun, and hence more solar flares.  The result, blackouts.  Similar to what happened to the Province of Quebec in Canada in 1989 , these solar flares or storms have a devastating impact on our electricity.  The Sun has, and I believe will again, bring darkness in an age where we depend heavily on electricity.

Summarizing what I put in my previous blog post, when you combine what the Mayans (video 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5) have calculated/predicted with what it means (solar storms), and combine that with religious prophecy, I believe it's inevitable that we will lose all but a little electricity on a global scale.  Based on my own research, coupled with a 60-minute episode irrelevant to this topic, I found out that rebuilding a damaged power plant is measured in years. So it is my theory, though far fetched, that the effect of the solar storms generated during the winter solstice of 2012 will last for years yielding devastation once the population realizes that electricity is not coming back any time soon —affecting how water is delivered to homes (or even purified for drinking in the first place), sewers, heating, gas (no one will be able to pump gas without electricity), etc.  We're talking chaos and a life beyond Marshall Law, which resembles the Book of Eli.

Don't take my movie references lightly. See the below special from the Discovery Channel on the topic to help put things in perspective.  The sight & sound help too, I'm sure:

While I don't subscribe to the Nostradamus predictions (YouTube), I find it odd that he predicts much of the same theories I have.  I believe in God's Words in the form of my faith, followed by Science; but never Astronomers or Soothsayers. But I felt it was relevant to help paint a picture.

Despite my shared collection of references, they are still theories of mine. My personal belief. Until today!!
Today I was notified about this article!  I simply was not expecting my theories to come true.  What do I do? What do we do?  How do you prepare?

I'm looking forward to your comments on all of this. More than anything, I'm really looking forward to seeing your reactions about how one should really (and practically) prepare for such an event.

As a final and side note, I recall in my research some time ago (but failed to write it down) that there's a pre-hit of these solar flares expected ... I want to say in June of this year (2011).  But I really cannot recall.  Should any of you come across any such evidence, please do share it with the rest of us.
